Learning

Individual Educational Plans

The IEP process brings parents/carers, professionals and the student (where appropriate) together as a team to consider the student's current level of performance and to determine needs and learning priorities for the next three to twelve months. The IEP will prioritise three individual learning priorities. At least one communication goal will be negotiated, and other goals may include aspects of curriculum, social development and/or behaviour. IEP meetings are held at the beginning of each year and reviewed midway.

Reporting

Our school advises of your child’s progress with written reports twice a year and through interviews. Parents wishing to discuss or clarify this report should contact the class teacher. A variety of assessment opportunities were used to gather information about their learning this semester.

Student Annual Review

SSPs review the placement of each of their students annually or when required. These reviews consider all aspects of a student's personalised learning and support, including whether or not the current placement is best meeting their learning and support needs.

Passport for Learning

The Passport for Learning aims to scaffold the students’ knowledge, skills and understanding within the framework of the curriculum. In this way, we can move students progressively towards stronger understanding and ultimately greater independence in the learning process.

The Passport for Learning provides a rigorous pedagogy through providing:

  • A tool to accurately assess students in a purposeful and consistent manner
  • A tool to differentiate programs in your classroom
  • A tool to assist staff to self‐reflect and to make informed adjustments to teaching practice
  • A framework to link teaching approaches across the school within the framework of the NSW Curriculum

What students learn

Students learn a wide range of subjects in the NSW curriculum. They build skills, think creatively and prepare for life beyond school.

At our school, students can take part in special religious education (SRE). Our approved provider is Anglican Dioceses of Sydney, their website is www.sydneyanglicans.net and the link to their curriculum website is: http://whysre.com.au/sre-curriculum/cep-curriculum-overview/

When enrolling your child, you’ll be able to choose an option from the approved providers offered at our school. Students not attending are given supervised alternative meaningful activities.

You’re welcome to change your choice at any time. Just let us know in writing or contact us.

For more information, visit the department’s website or contact us.
