Safety at The Hills School

Safety at The Hills School

Principal’s Message:

Hello parents and friends of The Hills School. It’s been a very wet and soggy few weeks and we’ve all been happy to see a little bit of sunshine this past couple of days. Our hearts go out to all those families in the Sydney area and on the north coast who have been so deeply affected by the floods. Some special activities will be underway next week to do what we can as a school community to help.

COVID Smart School Operations

Under the most recent changes to COVID smart practice in schools our staff continue to wear masks when indoors and encourage students to do so as well. Given that a number of our students have significantly compromised immune systems it remains important that we continue measures that minimise spread of the disease. Staff and students are strongly encouraged to continue with RAT testing daily. We have found that this is capturing students and staff that are asymptomatic and thence stopping spread within the school. Wherever a positive test is received families are required to notify the school. We are sincerely thankful for our community cooperation in keeping students home when they are unwell with any cold and flu like symptoms and appreciate the ongoing cooperation.

Safety Upgrades

Safety upgrades to the school’s internal driveways are well under way and nearly complete. These upgrades include, widening the pathway to make access easier for our wheelchair users and the installation of pedestrian safety traffic bollards. These safety upgrades help to keep our students safe, and we ask that parents and carers assist us by driving at 10km/h when on school grounds.

P&C Donations

I would like to extend my sincere thanks on behalf of our students for the P&Cs generous donation to the school library. Kathryn and Jenny are hard at work purchasing a range of books and resources for your students – thank you ever so much.

The P&C will also announce another generous donation at the AGM which we are all very excited about…..stay tuned.

P&C

The annual general meeting of the P&C is to be held on Monday 4 April 2022 at 7.00pm. Nominations for executive of P&C close on Friday 1 April. The Hills School students sit firmly at the core of P&C activity, and we encourage you all to be a part of this thriving community
