Hello parents and carers and welcome to our school newsletter.

Getting Moving at The Hills - Move-a-Thon 2023

Being physically active is a great way to engage students in learning and has a raft of other benefits to student health and wellbeing. Each  year  the  Hills School P&C helps us promote this through the Move-a-Thon and also provides an excellent opportunity for our school community to band together to raise funds for much needed resources. The students and staff had a brilliant time moving about the bike track playground, getting stamps for their laps and generally having fun. We did 2 sessions, one set of classes in the morning and then the other after lunch - which meant that my steps were certainly up for the day. I wanted to extend my appreciation to all the parents and siblings who helped on the day, we couldn't do it without you. We are encouraging all families to return sponsorship cards and any funds raised by Tuesday 6 June 2023.

Attendance - Let us know if your child is absent.

The wellbeing of our students is extremely important to us. One way we protect the wellbeing of your child is by fulfilling our responsibilities as both parents/carers and school staff by reporting and monitoring student absences.

Please remember to contact us on 9639 7334/9639 8 4 4 8 or through the school email at thehills- s.school@det.nsw.edu.au. This is best done early in the morning if your child is going to be away or late for school so your child’s absence can be recorded correctly and we can provide appropriate support for you and your family.

If you speak a language other than English and need help talking with our staff, please telephone the interpreter service on 131 450. This service is free. Listen in your language or see How to contact the Telephone Interpreter Service.

For further information on the processes we use to record, monitor and follow-up student attendance and absences please read our School Attendance Policy.

Sharing Student Achievement - Term 2 Reports

Term 2 reports will be finalised and sent home to parents in Week 10 of this term. Staff have been working through the assessment process and are currently compiling a variety of items we use to identify and assess student progress. This term we will introduce an adjusted report format that incorporates the main components of our reports such as IEP goals, student progress in Key Learning areas along with their involvement in school activities. The staff have compiled a set of photos that will be included as an insert rather than accompanying each learning area. We hope that the new format provides a quality insight into the unique learning for each of our students.
