Principal's message:
Hello all and welcome to our Term 3 Week 6 newsletter.
Australian Special Education School of the Year 2024
The Hills School is proud to be named the Australian Special Education School of the year 2024. Our school was nominated amongst five schools from across the country for this prestigious award. In addition to the win in this category our school was also nominated for Australian School of the Year.
The Hills School team make a real difference in the lives of all of our students and their families. We have a great privilege to work with truly unique and amazing kids and the collaborative efforts of teachers, SLSOs and support staff is truly inspirational. At The Hills School we believe in the capacity of each student to learn and grow. Our school succeeds with students at the centre and parents as partners in learning. To make success happen we take a highly individualised focus which creates a foundation for thinking and action that gives agency to our students and opens pathways for success. Our belief that everyone can learn, resounds throughout the community profoundly impacting staff and students alike. The dedication of our team enables the school to leverage expertise and innovate to meet the needs of our students. With a team around the student, we create opportunity - making anything possible for students at The Hills School.
As we celebrate at The Hills, we also celebrate a system that seeks to be truly inclusive for all, a system that is the ‘go to’ for people with disability because we truly care about each and every one of our students. We celebrate a community that supports us in everything that we do as we strive to make a real difference together. I am a very proud Principal - thanks for being a part of this with us!
The Hills Performing Arts Festival – Dance Group
On Wednesday evening we were thrilled to be involved in the annual Hills School performing Arts Festival with our dance group absolutely stealing the show. Huge congratulations to Taiana, Malika, Curtis, Rafa, Ethan, Finnan, Eliza, Zainab, Pratyush, Viaan, Alia and Aresema – you were all totally amazing. Thank you so much to teacher Kate Dickson for leading the dance group and organising the performance and to all the staff who joined on the day and into the evening to make for such a memorable moment in our student’s education journey. Brilliant all round!
