Principal's message:
Dear parents and friends of The Hills School,
As we start the new year, we are excited to embrace our updated school vision:
At The Hills School, we believe communication is the foundation for learning. We are dedicated to working together in helping every student learn and grow towards independence.
Supporting our students in developing their communication skills is essential, as it empowers them to express their needs, share their feelings and engage with others more effectively. We recognise that strong communication abilities not only enhance individual success but also play a crucial role in fostering independence and building meaningful relationships.
The past few weeks have been busy with a myriad of engaging activities taking place across our classrooms and learning spaces. Our students and staff have adjusted to their new classes and teachers.
Looking ahead, we will soon embark on our annual Individual Education Plans (IEPs) process. We are keen to gather insights and feedback from our families as we set our learning goals for the year. IEPs are fundamental to supporting our learners and form an important part allowing us to customise our strategies to meet the individual needs of each student. Teachers will be reaching out to schedule appointments in the coming week.
Supporting families both in and outside of school is important to us. We believe that working in partnership with you only serves to benefit the learning of our students. I would like to reintroduce our Community Support Officer Brigette who works Tuesday and Wednesday focussing solely on connecting families with services, guiding NDIS connections and helping bridge the gap between family and school life. If you would like to connect with Brigette, please call or email the school.
Thank you for your ongoing support, and here’s to a fantastic year ahead!
